Did someone say lunch! Yes, you heard correctly!
In August 2015, over 200 local business women and a few brave men, were the first to experience something new, something different - it was time to think about lunch!
Guests arrived to a glass of bubbly in a room energised with the buzz of anticipation of what was a delicious two course lunch, with gorgeous background music, not to mention our wonderful guest speaker, Dr Judith Slocombe, CEO of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Judith talked about her career as it spanned many roles; veterinarian, entrepreneur, business owner, corporate senior executive manager and non-executive director.
Having built a small home based pathology business into the largest veterinary diagnostic group across Australia and New Zealand, she then sold her business and was appointed to head up a major diagnostic company with laboratories operating across South East Asia. Judith graduated with an MBA from the Melbourne Business School in June 2002.
Throughout her career, Judith’s work has been recognised by numerous prestigious awards, among them Australia’s most highly regarded award for women in business, the Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year. In 2003 she was awarded a centenary medal for service to Australian society in business leadership.
In 2005 Judith was appointed CEO of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation whose mission is to keep children safe from violence, with a major focus on cybersafety and reducing bullying and its devastating effects. This children’s charity is a natural fit for Judith who is a mother of nine children of her own.Guests were also treated to the latest information from our event sponsors, Prime Super and Victorian Government through Small Business Victoria.
With some brilliant prizes on offer throughout the day, along with our own fundraising efforts, we were pleased to be able to make a small donation on behalf of all guests to The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Stay tuned for the 2016 Casey Cardinia Women's Business Lunch which is set for Friday 26 August. Tickets on sale in early 2016 - don't forget to save the date though as this is a not to be missed event in our Business Calendar!
